The San Diego Nurses Association recently reached out to VCC to ask if we would help promote a need for masks for the nurses serving aboard the USNS Mercy. Their goal was to collect 160 masks. Not only was VCC able to collect and deliver the requested number of masks, we exceeded their request and delivered…drum roll please… 947! Now the nurses may leave their cabins (yet remain on the ship) to conduct non hospital related activities, which is something that they couldn’t do prior to receiving these masks.
This was made possible by the determined efforts of a dedicated group of sewing volunteers who donated their time, sewing skills, and materials. Many thanks to all our wonderful volunteers!
